Shapes & Dimensions

Round vs. Oval: Which Fits Better?

Every yard has unique boundaries, tree lines, and setback rules. Here is how the two shapes compare:

Round Above Ground Pools

Round pools are the most structurally efficient shape. Because water pressure is distributed equally across the entire perimeter, round pools do not require external side buttresses, leaving more room in your yard.

  • Maximum swimming area per dollar spent
  • Easier and faster excavation footprint
  • No external side buttress brackets needed

Oval Above Ground Pools

Ideal for narrow backyards, side yards, and installations adjacent to long decks or boundary fences. Oval pools deliver great lap-swimming lanes and sleek backyard integration.

Our Professional Installation Process

A pool is only as good as the ground it sits on. Here is how we ensure your pool stays rock-solid for decades:

1

Backyard Evaluation & Laser Transit Leveling

We shoot grades with a precision optical or laser transit. We always dig virgin soil down to the lowest point—we never build up low spots with loose fill dirt that settles and buckles.

2

Concrete Patio Blocks Under Every Upright

Every pool post sits on a solid 2-inch thick concrete patio block sunk flush into undisturbed earth. This prevents the uprights from sinking into wet soil when the pool fills with thousands of pounds of water.

3

Steel Wall Assembly & Ground Shield

We roll out and bolt the corrugated steel wall, install safety foam cove wedges along the inner perimeter, and trowel a clean masonry sand bottom free of rocks, roots, or sharp debris.

4

Commercial Vacuum-Seated Liner Fitting

Industrial suction blowers pull the heavy vinyl liner tight against the floor and steel walls, eliminating large wrinkles before water filling starts.

5

Filtration, Skimmer & Return Jet Hookup

We assemble the top rails, install the skimmer and return faceplates with fresh gaskets, set up the pump and filter system, and perform full leak checks so your pool is ready to swim.

Helpful Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Simple answers to the questions pool buyers ask most:

Can an above ground pool be installed on a sloped yard?
Yes. Very few New England backyards are naturally flat. We use specialized excavation machinery to cut the high side of the slope down to the lowest grade, creating a perfectly flat, virgin soil shelf for the pool to rest on.
How much space around the pool do I need to leave?
Most local Massachusetts and Rhode Island towns require a minimum of 3 to 5 feet of clear perimeter space around the outside of the pool wall for safety, maintenance access, and equipment placement. We help verify your town setback requirements during consultation.
Can I build a wood or composite deck up to my above ground pool?
Yes, but you should always install the pool before building a deck. This allows the deck builder to set posts and deck boards flush against the pool’s top rails without interfering with the pool’s framework or liner track.
What is the difference between a 52-inch and 54-inch pool wall?
A 52-inch wall gives roughly 44 to 46 inches of actual water depth (leaving room for the skimmer line). A 54-inch wall gives approximately 46 to 48 inches of water depth. Taller swimmers and families with teenagers often prefer the 54-inch profile.
Do I need to supply electrical power for the pool pump?
Yes. A licensed electrician will need to install a dedicated 115V or 230V outdoor GFCI electrical outlet with a timer near the filter equipment to meet Massachusetts and Rhode Island electrical safety codes.
