Steps to Replace the Pool Liner:
Measure the Pool and Verify the Liner Size
Carefully measure the pool’s diameter and depth, then compare these measurements to the label on the new liner box. This step is crucial to ensure the liner fits properly. An ill-fitting liner can lead to wrinkles, uneven tension, or even tears. You don’t want to find out it’s the wrong size liner after taking it out of the box. The liner will not go back in the box and would make it harder to ship back if you purchased it online.
Use a pump or siphon to drain the pool. For the last bit of water, use a wet-dry vacuum to ensure the base is completely dry. A dry base is essential for proper installation, as water can cause the new liner to shift or wrinkle. If the pool base gets soaked then it will become too difficult to prepare the pool base to accept the new liner.
Remove the Old Liner
Carefully cut out the old liner using a utility knife. Start at the top edge and work your way down, removing it in sections. Dispose of the old liner in contractor trash bags. Use the following cut-out pattern and be sure not to scratch the pool wall with the knife's blade.
Disassemble the Top of the Pool
Remove the caps, top rails and coping to expose the pool wall. This step is necessary to attach the new liner securely.
Prepare the Pool Base
Use a metal rake and flat shovel to level the pool base. Add play sand if needed to create a smooth, even surface. Compact the sand with a steel tamper to ensure a firm foundation for the new liner.

Monitor the Water Level

Install the Skimmer and Return
Install the new skimmer and return gasket, ensuring a watertight seal. Cut the liner openings for the skimmer and water return using a utility knife.
Complete the Filling and Clean Up
Once done, clean up the work area and provide the customer with their warranty paperwork and care instructions. Continue filling the pool to halfway between the skimmer opening.
