Please review some common questions and faqs associated with pool and liner installations.

Frequently asked questions

  1. Do I need a permit to install my pool?

18rd Harmony with Fusion LinerAbsolutely. It is up to you the customer to get a permit for installation in all cities and towns across the country. Please view this article: Owner of a Mass. pool where a child drowns charged. Please take this question as an important one to for fill. I would like for everyone to take this process more seriously. Also consider that technology is catching people left and right. Please check this blog post out in NY. It is a Google picture of a neighborhood in which above ground pools where placed up without approval. Big Brother at its finest. NY Neighborhood in flux.

  2. Is it really that important for the ground to be level?

Absolutely! This is the most important aspect of installing your pool. We use a laser level and check frequently while setting up your pool. Keep in mind that we always dig extra dirt from the higher end. Don’t add dirt to the lower end for safety reasons. If you plan on leveling your own plot, Please get the area within 1-2 inches grade.

  3. Please explain what electricity my pump will need?

Most pumps are 110v and have a 3ft cord that you just plug in. It will need its own 20-amp breaker and 10 gauge wire traveling to the pump. Keep plug in receptacle at least 5 feet away from pool structure and bury wire under 18 inches depth. You will also need to bond your pools water. Installing a 6″ brass 1.5″ nipple with a lug brazed to it. Then a 1.5 brass union, to nipple and hose adapter. Consult with an professional electrician for details. I don’t recommend using an extension cord to power your pool until an electrical contractor can get out to you. In most cases the gauge of the extension cord will be a non sufficient gauge and it will burn your new pump out quickly.

  4. How many hours per day will I need to run my pools pump and filter?

Hayward-Extreme-filterYou will need to run your filter about 8 hrs a day in normal operating conditions. In cooler periods when temperature is under 70F you can get away with running less time. You will want to backwash your filter at least once a week. With high usage you will want to run 24hrs a day.

  5. How much will it cost to fill my pool?

    swimming-pool-water

The average costs are about $80.00-$160.00. Please visit “Filling An Above Ground Pool with a Water Truck” page for more details. Also call your local municipality and ask what their rates per one thousand gallons is? Most cities and towns will allow you to subtract the amount in gallons from the waste portion of your water bill.

  6.

  7. Can I place a pool on top of septic tank?

Absolutely in no circumstances can you place an above ground pool anywhere near a septic system. Water is heavy and these pools can contain up to 20,000 gallons making them extremely heavy. Please do not consider this action.
